Altimeter

The Altimeter shows the altitude of the A/C based on a pressure correction which is set in Inches of Mercury (Inch Hg). This calibration is set usually before take-off and landing. Therefore the altitude shown is the altitude above sea level and not altitude above the ground. When cruising above 5000 feet, the altimeter setting is set to the standard pressure of 29.92 in.Hg (1013,25 hPa). This instrument is also a backup for the altimeter of the HUD.
