AOA and Refuel/NWS Indexer Lights

The indexer lights are positioned at the left and right sides of the HUDat the center console. Inside a casing are 3 lights on each side. The left lights (AOA) show the optimal Angle of Attack of the A/C during landing. The indexers at the right side are used during in air refueling. The light in the middle has a double function, showing the status of the NWS (Nose Wheel Steering) when the A/C is on the ground with extended landing gear (is selected with the Missile Step Switch on the. Side Stick Controller).

- On, if AOA is too high (> 15 deg)
O Status light
(green)
- On, if AOA is ideal (13 deg)
^ Status light
(yellow)
- On, if AOA is too low (< 11 deg)
RDY Status light
(blue)
- On, if ready and permission to refuel
AR
NWS
Status light
(green)
- On, if the refueling boom is connect or at gound, if the NWS is activate
DISC Status light
(yellow)
- On, if the refueling boom is disconnect
